An Alternative Assessment of Spoken Language For The Seventh Grade of SMP N 1 Jepara

In this writing, among the four language skills, I choose spoken language skills; i.e. Speaking and Listening Test to propose as an alternative assessment to measure the students’ achievements in learning English language. The speaking test is used to measure the students’ productive skill, whereas the listening test is used to measure the receptive skill.
The level of difficulty of the test is, of course, adjusted to my institution where I teach, namely SMP (Junior High School) Negeri 1 Jepara.  The two tests are specifically designed for the seventh grade of SMP in the first semester. For the sake of the beginner class of SMP level, the tests are in the category of average / adequate in the level of difficulties.
